Spartanburg District Six has a rich history in providing gifted and talented education for its students. The Horizons program is designed to meet the needs of academically gifted and talented students. Spartanburg School District Six is committed to challenging all students to reach their full potential. The programming offered by District Six evolves from a belief in providing a broad spectrum of specialized services to maximize each individual student's intellect and creativity. Horizons classes emphasize the use of higher level critical and creative thinking skills in an interdisciplinary curriculum.  Depending on the developmental level of the identified student, delivery of services includes interest assessments, exploratory experiences, curriculum compacting and differentiation, process skill instruction, curriculum acceleration, mentoring, access to advanced technologies, and advanced levels of research.
