iReady Testing Begins
Over the next two weeks, your student will take a diagnostic assessment in math and reading called i-Ready. We look forward to seeing how much our students have grown in their academic skills throughout this school year.
What can you do to help?
To help prepare your student for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:
● Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
● Try their best on each question and try not to rush.
● Try not to worry about questions they do not know—they are not expected to get them all correct.
● Celebrate your child’s learning and growth.

Family First Wednesdays
Family First Wednesdays
March: 3/27
April: 4/10 and 4/24
May: 5/8 and 5/22
Beginning January 17, we will launch "Family First Wednesdays." Every other Wednesday, parents and guardians will be encouraged to spend at least one hour of quality family time together. Teachers will not assign any homework on those days! "Family First Wednesdays" is an opportunity for parents, guardians, and children to connect, unwind, and create lasting memories. Whether it's playing board games, enjoying a meal without the distractions of cell phones, engaging in a creative art project, getting active with a game of pickleball, or even producing a fun home movie, these moments are precious. Feel free to involve grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or anyone in your immediate or extended family!
We believe "Family First Wednesdays" will foster stronger family relationships and even promote positive mental health for our students. Share your "Family First" experiences with us by sending photos to communications@spart6.org. We'll select a few to feature on our social media platforms, showcasing the wonderful ways our D6 families are spending time together.

Bus Transportation Changes
District Six is now using a new cell phone app called Ride 360 that will allow you to see the location of your child’s bus in real-time and also provide you with any updates or delays on the bus route. If your child is a bus rider, you will be receiving an email with instructions on how to download and use this new app. In that email, there will be a unique link to connect your account with your child’s bus. For safety reasons, no one else will have access to that information unless you choose to share it with them. Please be on the lookout for this email this evening. For added convenience, we are also now posting bus delays on our district website under the transportation page. Should you have any questions, please contact our transportation department at 864-342-8988.
Our D6 transportation website now has a link to a google doc showing all buses that are late and how they will be covered. Please check out the late bus link at :

Transportation Changes....
If you send a change in transportation via email or class dojo, please make sure you receive a response back from the teacher. If you do not receive a response back by 1:55 p.m., please call the front office regarding the transportation change. This will ensure your child goes home correctly.

Arrival and Dismissal
As always safety is our number one priority here at West View Elementary. One of our goals is to ensure that our morning car line drop off and afternoon car line pick up is safe and runs as smoothly as possible. In order to make the morning car line drop off safe for the students, parents, and staff we need your help by ensuring that the following steps are followed each morning:
Students should be prepared to exit the car immediately when the door is opened for them. Please have your child gather up any necessary materials needed before you stop.
In the mornings we only have one drop off line. For the safety of everyone please do not pull around the cars in front of you. We appreciate your patience .
Sometimes the car line can become congested closer to the school start time. The doors at the school open at 7:00 A.M. and there is no congestion between that time and 7:30 A.M.
In order to make the afternoon car line pick up safe for the students, parents, and staff we need your help by ensuring that the following steps are followed each afternoon:
Our campus is a tobacco and smoke free zone.
We request that all adults remain in their cars at all times. Staff on duty will make sure all children get to their vehicle safely.
Display your child’s car tag in the windshield from the time you enter the pickup area until your child is in the car. Adults on duty will need to see the car tag in order to help students to their vehicles. Without a car tag, you will be asked to drive to the front office to show your ID.
Park in a double line. All cars should be turned off while students are walking to cars. Staff on duty will let you know when you may start your engine.
Watch for teachers on duty as they help students get to cars.
The school resource officer or a staff member will signal to cars when it is clear to go. Please do not move until you are signaled to move.
Reminders
- You may drop off your child off each morning from 7:00 - 7:45 AM. All students will walk though the Evolve security check. Students will need to remove their chromebooks before walking through the check.
- Breakfast is served until 7:30 AM.
- The tardy bell rings at 7:45 AM. Students are to be in class by 7:45 to not be counted tardy. Any student arriving after the tardy bell has to be walked in by the adult and signed in at the front of the school.
- Students should not bring any medicine to school in his/her backpacks. All medicine should be brought to the school nurse.
- If a transportation change needs to be meade, please do so before 2:00 p.m.
