District Six Virtual Academy High School
The District Six Virtual Academy for the high school will be a teacher-supported, student-driven model using the Apex program. Each student will work on courses specifically needed for graduation with the oversight of an advisor. Teachers from different content areas will be available to advise and support students in their learning. The instruction for each course taken, however, will come from the computer-based Apex Program. More information and sample schedules for the virtual academy can be found on pages11-14. High school students who attend the virtual academy will still be allowed to take courses at R.D. Anderson and the Spartanburg County Master Skills Center if they can attend those courses in person. Students could take other courses online from home in the virtual academy, but they would need to attend RDA and the Master Skills Center courses face-to-face. In our virtual academy students will not have to worry about transitioning between models, regardless of the level of spread in Spartanburg County. The District Six Virtual Academy requires a semester commitment.
